[Series of Lectures]
Aligning with International Net-Zero Carbon Trends and Building Sustainable Campuses
In the context of global climate change, TESA has joined forces with numerous industry leaders to launch the “Aligning with International Net-Zero Carbon Trends and Building Sustainable Campuses” series of lectures, aiming to promote sustainable development in campuses and society. This event brings together experts such as Owen Sung, Vice President of WSP; Tsung-Wei Lu, Architect at Tec-Design Construction; Jenny Lin, Senior Sales Manager at Schneider Electric; and Vincent Liao, General Manager of Meters Energy Taiwan, to discuss how to achieve net-zero emissions through digital transformation and green technology.
The chairman of TESA stated that this series of lectures aims to enhance the understanding of sustainable development among all faculty and students, responding to the global call for net-zero carbon emissions through practical actions. Owen Sung from WSP emphasized that “net-zero carbon emissions are no longer an elective but a compulsory course,” stressing that businesses and educational institutions must work together to drive low-carbon transformation and become one of the strongest supply chains.
Jenny Lin from Schneider Electric shared how advanced low-carbon building technologies and smart energy management systems can achieve energy saving and carbon reduction goals. She showcased applications of SE distribution systems, smart panels, microgrid systems, and the EcoStruxure Building automation system, which have achieved remarkable results globally. For example, The Edge building in Amsterdam, through the installation of 28,000 IoT sensors, has become one of the world’s most sustainable buildings.
Vincent Liao, General Manager of Meters Energy Taiwan, shared his practical experience in promoting energy transformation locally, introducing how strategic energy decisions and modernizing existing systems can achieve high-efficiency energy savings. These experiences and knowledge provide valuable references for participants, helping them achieve sustainable development goals within their own campuses.
Owen Sung from WSP mentioned that the “Net-Zero Blueprint” covers multiple aspects, from greenhouse gas inventory to the establishment of low-carbon demonstration zones and the procurement of green energy, laying a comprehensive foundation for future net-zero campuses. Tsung-Wei Lu from Tec-Design Construction shared the feasibility of achieving carbon neutrality from an architectural design perspective, stating that “sustainable architecture is not only about creating an eco-friendly space but also about shaping a future lifestyle.”
The event reached a climax with enthusiastic discussions among the participants, who expressed their hope for more opportunities to engage in global net-zero carbon actions in the future. TESA will continue to host similar events, aspiring to become a leader in sustainable development education, inspiring more innovative ideas, and contributing to a green future for campuses and society.
This series of lectures is not only a feast of knowledge but also a gathering filled with hope, injecting new vitality into the vision of global net-zero carbon emissions. TESA will continue to dedicate itself to building sustainable campuses and leading association partners in striving for a better future. We hope this series of lectures will inspire more like-minded individuals to join the ranks of sustainable development, seeking solutions to global climate change. Whether you are a professional in the education field or a member of the public interested in sustainability, this is a rare opportunity for learning and exchange. Let us all contribute to building a better future together!
